Professor Martins Nwankwo Uchenna

Professor Martins Nwankwo Uchenna is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of Globalization, Terrorism, and International Integration. He is a seasoned University administrator, a committed community development advocate, and a passionate global human rights champion. Affectionately known as “Igwo” by his peers and associates, Professor Nwankwo brings decades of academic excellence and leadership to the global academic and policy-making community. Born and raised in Owerri, Nigeria, he received his foundational education at St. Paul’s Primary School and Holy Ghost College, both in Owerri. He pursued higher education at the former Imo State University, Okigwe (now Abia State University, Uturu), where he earned his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in History. He further obtained an M.A. in International Affairs and Diplomacy and a Ph.D. in Globalisation and Conflict Resolution.

Professor Nwankwo began his academic career as a Graduate Assistant at Imo State University and rose through the ranks to become a Full Professor. He has served in various strategic and leadership positions, including:
Coordinator, International Centre for Environmental Peace (ICEP)
Head, Department of History and International Studies
Dean of Student Affairs
Dean, Faculty of Humanities
Current Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies

A prolific scholar, Prof. Nwankwo has authored and co-authored over 200 academic publications and has presented papers at conferences across Africa, Europe, Asia, and North America. He is an active member of several professional and academic associations, including:

He is widely travelled and frequently consulted for his expertise on issues related to international peace, diplomacy, and socio-political development. Prof. Nwankwo is married to Dr. (Mrs.) Ijeoma Nwankwo, and they are blessed with three children: Ebubechukwu, Esomchukwu, and Elochukwu.
